At Walk Mornington Peninsula, our mission is to bring together a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about fitness, exploration, and connecting with others.
We understand the challenges of staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. That’s why we created our walking group to offer a safe and welcoming environment for people to get out, get moving, and expand their social circle.

Our founder, Taryn, is a dedicated fitness enthusiast who saw an opportunity to bring people together and create a supportive community. With her passion for health and wellness, she envisioned a group that could explore the beautiful scenery of the Mornington Peninsula while getting fit and building new connections.

Walk Mornington Peninsula began back in Feb 2021, during those lockdown blues of the COVID pandemic. Seeing how isolation was affecting Taryn’s own circle of family and friends, she had this idea: Bring people together through the power of walking and connection? Taryn took a leap of faith and posted a simple $20 advertisement on Facebook to connect people. And you know what? That little ad brought in four new walkers right off the bat!

And just like that, Walk Mornington Peninsula was born – a simple idea sparked by a desire to combat isolation and get moving. It’s been an incredible journey ever since!

Since we began in 2021, we’ve organised more than 200 walks, covering approximately 2,500 kilometres. Our walks vary from moderate-paced fitness walks of 5 to 7 kilometres to more intense hikes of 8 to 20 kilometres, taking you through bushland and along coastal trails.

At Walk Mornington Peninsula, we prioritise safety and respect for the environment. We encourage sustainable practices such as taking our rubbish with us and leaving no trace behind.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Boonwurrung land on which we are meeting. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and the Aboriginal Elders of other communities who are with us today.
